We are so happy to introduce the second not-just-for-children’s book we are deep diving this May: Noticing written by Kobi Yamada and illustrated by Elise Hurst.
This book is … just magical. The words captivate and the pictures draw us in to a hidden world just beyond our rational selves.
It’s all about being perceptive - but not just with our eyes, with our hearts and imaginations as well. It’s about seeing possibilities and witnessing the enchantment all around us. (It gives us goosebumps just thinking about it!)
We miss a lot in life when we forget to observe with our hearts and set our imaginations free. Going through life being unaware is no way to live. This book is an excellent reminder of that.
Things we chat about in this episode:
What it would be like to be a “noticer”.
How being observant and perceptive improves our lives.
The life changing importance of seeing potential and possibility in others.
Why Katherine spent an hour getting “help” from squirrels and trees.
The hidden magic in the illustrations for this book…
And so much more!
Cool things we reference:
📕Because I had a Teacher - Kobi Yamada and Natalie Russell
📕Finding Muchness - Kobi Yamada and Charles Santoso
🎨 JAM Bottlecap Art - Jeff Meszaros
Actions this books inspires us to take:
Manon: To upgrade my previous action of mindful walking and sitting in my garden
Katherine: To make more of an effort to help people see their light and encourage their creative acts.
Thank you so much for listening today! We really appreciate you being here. In our next episode we will deep dive into a quote from Noticing by Kobi Yamada. Until then we hope you stay well and have many moments to Slow Read.
Your Friends,
Katherine and Manon
