Finding the Mother Tree by Susanne Simard is one of our favourite books. It has everything a great non fiction should have: love, laughter, suspense and, of course, plants - oodles of plants*.
The stories Susanne tells of communing and connecting with our leafy relatives makes us want to hike through old growth forests. So, since it’s hiking season, we thought it would be a great time to revisit this wonderful book. Please enjoy this condensed version of our Finding the Mother Tree chat from last July.
*Just kidding - not every great non fiction needs to have oodles of plants. But it helps!
Things we talk about in this episode:
Why we love Finding the Mother Tree and the impact it has had on our lives.
How humans and trees are more alike than we think.
Why our governments need to change their policies if we want to have forests in the future.
Why everyone needs elders in their lives.
Suzanne has written another book! “When the Forest Breathes” will be released next March.
Thank you for listening today! We hope you enjoyed this condensed version of our July 2024 chat on Finding the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard. If you’ve read this book (or have a chance to read it this summer) please let us know what resonated with you!
