Book Talk #2: Finding the Mother Tree

by Susanne Simard

This week Manon and Katherine talk about Finding the Mother Tree by Dr. Susanne Simard. After reading this book six times (between us!), we felt it was high time we chatted about one of our favourite books.

We both highly recommend this book for anyone who:

  • loves trees and forests

  • is fascinated/ curious about how nature’s systems work together

  • knows in their heart that forest health = people health

  • believes that more exists than their eyes can see

  • loves a good story of triumph and overcoming ginormous odds

In this chat we discuss:

  • how we can’t ignore indigenous wisdom.

  • the fascinating concept that trees look after their young and help maintain the health of the forest ecosystem.

  • how outdated and unscientific forest practices are making things worse for, not only the forest, but for us, as well.

  • the big life lessons we took away from this book.

  • and so much more!

Please enjoy! And feel free to let us know what you think in the comments below.

Until next time, may the forest be with you 🌲

Your friends,

Katherine and Manon
